Hello!
The majority of the time when I attempt to access the application map (about 95% of the time) all I end up getting is an empty application map. Once I receive the blank application map I can't access any of the other tabs or buttons at the top (except for change workspace).
I can get access to all of the forms through the page structure area, but it is frustrating being unable to work on the controllers/css/etc.
I've just done a fresh install today and it has not improved...and while this has always been an issue it has just recently become a much more frequent issue.
Thanks!
Attached is a screenshot.

RE: Unable to access the Application Map WM4
I+?+?+?m sorry you are having trouble with the application map screen in WebMaker. I can appreciate how frustrating this must be.
To get this problem resolved quickly can you first confirm which WebMaker version you are using? You mention WM4 in the title, but the screenshot you have provided looks like version 3? Can you follow the instructions in http://www.hyfinity.com/node/30 to find out the exact version number?
Also, can you confirm what browser you are using, and whether you are getting any script errors reported when the loading of the application map fails?
It might also be worth clearing your browser cache in case there are any out of date files being picked up. Please see this thread for details: http://www.hyfinity.com/node/143

Gerard
RE: Unable to access the Application Map WM4
You're right, I guess it is version 3.
MVC WebMaker 3.1.2
build.831
r13810
August 16 2010
HSG Bizflow Release
I'm working on Chrome. Not sure if these are the script errors, but with inspect element in the console section I see this:
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'opacity' of null jquery.min.js:2
Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property 'nodeValue' of null NavigationDiagram.js:352
4 Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'setMode' of undefined
RE: Unable to access the Application Map WM4
Thanks for the additional details.
I think it might be worth checking that you have all of the 3.1.2 patches installed as patch 3.1.2.0010 mentions fixing an issue with the application map not always rendering in Google Chrome. See http://www.hyfinity.com/node/250 for details.
You can check what patches you have installed by looking in the +?+?++patches+?+?+? directory in the same location as the mvc_version.txt file you have already looked at.
If this is the problem, you could try also using a different browser to see what behaviour you get.
I hope this helps.
As an aside, if you are able to upgrade to a newer WebMaker version I would definitely recommend it. WebMaker 5 (supplied with BizFlow 12.1) or later is a big improvement over 3.1.2. :)

Gerard
RE: Unable to access the Application Map WM4 --- Actually, WM3
I have installed the patch, and the good news is that any new file that I create seems to be working and I can consistently bring up the application map. However, with any project that I import I'm unable to actually get the application map to show up. This seems to occur no matter which browser I am using (Chrome/Firefox/IE). I re-imported a project and then used the process shown in the second half of http://www.hyfinity.com/node/249 but alas each replace only changed 1 line each and I'm still unable to get to the map.
At least I can gain access for new files, but any other advice so that I can get to the map for my old projects?
Thank you so much for your help!
RE: Unable to access the Application Map WM4 --- Actually, WM3
Given that it is the older ones that are still not coming up, I think it is likely that the metadata for them has got corrupt in some way. I+?+?+?m not sure what this might be at this stage, but would it be possible for you to send through one of the project exports that you are having problems with for me to look at?
Hopefully we would then be able to track down exactly what has gone wrong, and what needs to be done to fix it.
You can send the export via email to support@hyfinity.com if you want to avoid placing it on the forum.
Hopefully this will be possible for you and we can quickly get this sorted!
Thanks,
Gerard

RE: Unable to access the Application Map WM4 --- Actually, WM3
Thanks for sending through the export. I have had a look at this, and see the same behaviour as you in 3.1.2.
From looking at the export however, this seems to have been created from a WebMaker 5 installation? Could this be the case?
When you import a project into WebMaker it automatically upgrades the metadata where needed to be compatible with that version. Unfortunately this does mean that it is then unlikely to be usable in an older WebMaker version.
I think this is what is causing your issue, as the application.xml metadata file has been updated to work with WebMaker 5.
Could this scenario match what has happened for you? If so, are you able to continue using WebMaker 5? Newer WebMaker versions (both studio and server) are compatible with projects created in older ones, but not the other way round.
If you do need to keep using version 3, do you have a copy of this project that hasn+?+?+?t been used in a more recent version?

Yes I would definitely recommend that you both use the same studio version if you intend to work on the same projects.
It may well be that the metadata remains broadly compatible across the two versions until you perform certain actions, but I am not sure what the specifics of this would be, and this is not a scenario we support.
If your production servers are still running version 3, then you will unfortunately need to stick with the 3.1.2 studio, as projects published from a newer studio version are not supported on an older server.
When you do upgrade your production server to a newer version it will still continue to run projects published from an older studio ok, but I appreciate that this upgrade is tied in with the full BizFlow 12 upgrade so is not a simple undertaking.
